Sheltered Housing
Our apartments at Southwood Court in Basildon, Essex and Beaverbrook House in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire offer an independent way of living within a sheltered environment. Each of our purpose built flats is self contained so residents have their own key to their own front door. Entrance to the flats is accessed from a central corridor and some of those living in ground floor apartments have an additional entrance leading out to the gardens. Residents need to be self sufficient as they will do all their own shopping, cooking and cleaning but there is a resident warden on site to oversee the property and offer additional assistance in emergency situations.
As there are many communal areas such as the lounge, conservatory and gardens there is an opportunity for residents to socialise with each other. This can take the form of movie nights or simply getting together over a cup of tea or a game of pool in the snooker room. In addition our warden Margaret Duff, who has been in situ for the last 25 years organises events such as special Christmas and Easter lunches, bingo nights and other activities. Of course some residents prefer to keep themselves to themselves and their privacy is respected at all times.
The sheltered apartments offer residents a chance to remain independent for as long as possible in their retirement years. At The Printing Charity we are very proud of our apartments which are incredibly popular with our residents who are all over the age of 60, and are drawn from a variety of print related backgrounds.
