David Phillips: Chair
David Phillips has worked at Paragon in various senior operational roles since starting with the organisation in 2006. Promoted in April 2023 to Chief Operating Officer for the Paragon Customer Communications business, David is a keen advocate of developing future talent, and plays a key strategic role within Paragon’s growth and innovation.
Julia Cole: Vice Chair
Julia has spent her lifetime in printing, a career she is incredibly passionate about. Starting with Xerox in the 1980s and becoming a highly-regarded name in sales and sales training, she spent time at OKI and then moved to HP, where she spent 15 years in roles heading up UK marketing, transforming Dscoop EMEA, and in a global role working with brands, agencies, programmes and training courses to enable customers to grow their businesses. Julia is currently working as non-exec strategy consultant for the British Printing Industry Federation (BPIF).
Pauline Blake FCA, CMIIA, QIAL: Honorary Treasurer
Pauline was appointed as a Trustee and Honorary Treasurer in 2017, and became Chair of the Investment Committee in 2022. A qualified accountant with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales and a Chartered Internal Auditor with The Chartered Institute of Internal Auditors, Pauline began her career at HLB Kidsons (now part of RSM International) before joining Pearson Plc’s Internal Audit team in London in 2005. In 2013 she was appointed Pearson’s Audit Director EMEA and in 2016 joined FT Limited as Internal Audit Director.
Richard Bernstein: Trustee
Richard is a CFA Charterholder and Chartered Fellow of the Institute for Securities and Investment. He has extensive experience in compliance and risk encompassing financial advice, wealth and investment management. Previously Chief Risk Officer at the Kingswood Group, Richard is currently Compliance Director at JM Finn.
Louisa Bull: Trustee
As National Officer, Louisa heads up Unite’s Graphical, Paper, Media, IT and Service Industries sectors. She was an industrial officer in the Sector and its predecessor unions for the last 20 years. Having worked in the industry since leaving school, she spent several years in The Daily Telegraph’s newsroom.
Catherine Cook: Trustee
Catherine is a qualified solicitor admitted in England, Wales and Scotland. She has over 26 years’ experience advising on corporate real estate transactions, and until May 2021 was a real estate partner at Clifford Chance LLP. Catherine was appointed as a Trustee in 2023.
Elenor Hamshire: Trustee
A qualified accountant with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales, Elenor began her career at PricewaterhouseCoopers before joining the commercial finance team at Penguin Books Limited, a subsidiary of Pearson plc, in 2001. In 2011, she moved to the head office company, working on global transformation projects until retirement from Pearson in 2020. Elenor was appointed as a Trustee and joined the Printing Charity Investment Committee in 2024.
Si Mathavan: Trustee
Si is currently a partner at Johnston Carmichael, part of the Moore Global network, leading on risk assurance and internal audit. He is also involved in ESG and chairs the Risk Advisory working group for the international firm. He has 18 years of experience working with public and private sector organisations including large, listed companies, government regulators and highly regulated firms. He previously worked for BDO and Ernst & Young in their financial services assurance practice. Si was appointed as a Trustee in 2023.
Andrew Neal: Trustee
Andrew joined Communisis in 2014 with initial HR responsibility for two divisions, before becoming Group HR Director in 2017. Communisis was acquired in 2018 by OSG and Andrew became Chief People Officer for the wider group in the summer of 2020. He is responsible for all HR activities, ensuring the group can attract, recruit, develop, and retain the best people. Prior to Communisis, Andrew held senior HR roles with Tesco Plc.
