Gracia Irvine is Marketing Executive at Meteor Inkjet Ltd and was named a Rising Star in 2021. We spoke to her about her job and how the award has supported her career aspirations.
‘I have worked in the industrial inkjet industry for nearly four years, supporting the marketing department at Meteor Inkjet Ltd. My role is to help plan, coordinate and drive global multi-channel marketing campaigns for Meteor’s portfolio of electronics, software, tools and services.
I’ve studied with the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) before and had touched on digital marketing, however I wanted to study the subject at a deeper level. The CIM Level 6 Digital Marketing Diploma looked like a great course for me but I was unsure how to proceed.
Being named a Rising Star
My manager, Tracey, heard about The Rising Star Awards and encouraged me to apply. After filling out an application form, I was selected for an interview and set about preparing. I looked into the background of the judge who would be interviewing me and listed a few questions to ask him. David has a wealth of experience and shared lots of valuable advice not only about marketing, but professional development too. Although I was nervous prior to the interview, David and Sophie made me feel at ease very quickly.
I was so happy when I heard I had won an award, and excited to be able to study once more. During the course I learned about the impact that the digital revolution is having on customer journeys. This learning helps me to develop strategic responses in my role, and choose relevant channels to meet our marketing objectives. It’s boosted my confidence when interpreting our data and turning it into actionable insights.
I would thoroughly recommend others to apply for a Rising Star award. The grant is very helpful, but the advice and being part of a support network of other young professionals within the printing industry is invaluable.’
