Held on Tuesday 9 July, BPIF Members’ Day proved to be an informative and inspiring celebration of print as the BPIF launched its fresh new look to members, while hosting their lively morning conference and AGM before providing members and MPs the opportunity to network at the House of Commons.
Warmly received by members, the BPIF’s new branding was revealed alongside a beautiful 2018/19 Annual Review and new Facts and Figures document, to reflect the federation’s vision to invigorate a modern, progressive print industry. The branding, which can now be seen on the BPIF website, features clean-cut lines to mirror the clear, best-in-class thinking the organisation seeks to embody for the benefit of the industry.
BPIF Chief Executive Charles Jarrold said of the rebrand, “Since November we have been working on our vision as an organisation and ensuring that our brand image reflects what the BPIF is; a modern, membership based, business services association. I am delighted to share this with you today. It provides a modern presence with a nod to our heritage that aligns with our mission to be a thriving trade association, inspiring those around us to see opportunities for growth.”Members also enjoyed attending a morning conference, which was led by Kevin Green, the former Chief Executive of the Recruitment & Employment Confederation and also HR Director at Royal Mail. Full of practical advice on how businesses can address positive opportunities in people management, it was followed by the BPIF AGM, which included BPIF President Darren Coxon and Chief Executive Charles Jarrold reviewing the BPIF’s key achievements over the past year.
Darren Coxon commented, “Being President is an honour and a privilege. Not for the pay because there isn’t any. Not for the extra work it brings nor the commitment it requires, but for the opportunity to give a bit back and help shape the future of our industry.”
The All-Party Parliamentary Print Group Reception formed the final part of the day, which took place on the terraces at the House of Commons. Hosted by Stephen Metcalfe MP, Charles Jarrold and Louisa Bull of Unite offered attendees insightful thoughts on the current and future state of the printing industry.
The Reception also provided a chance to celebrate some of the talent and hard work that is poured into the printing industry. Andrew Pearson of Graphic Packaging International was presented with the Kathy Woodward Award for Learning, while children’s books illustrator Lewis Houghton was awarded the Victor Watson Trophy. Chad Noble of Communisis and Fiona Fawcett, founder of Plewsy, an eco-friendly hand-illustrated paper goods and homeware company, were both Highly Commended. Finally, Charles Jarrold, presented the Outstanding Contribution Award to ProCo CEO Jon Bailey.
Charles stated, “As always, it’s an honour and a privilege to celebrate the commitment and dedication so many of my peers have made to our industry. My thanks go to all of our members, staff and MPs, on what I feel has been a very successful Members’ Day.”
