We’ve rebranded our annual awards championing young talent working in print, paper, publishing, and packaging.
Previously the Print Futures Awards, our Rising Star Awards continue the esteemed awards program that has helped hundreds of people develop in their chosen field.
Better representing the whole industry
Neil Lovell, The Printing Charity’s Chief Executive, explains the reason for the name change: “Refreshing the name and branding makes it clear that the awards are not just about print but all the many aspects of our multifaceted sector. The sector continues to change and our awards, the largest single awards in our sector, are about celebrating the new generation of talent working within it; young people who are already demonstrating great potential.
“We’ve had nearly 500 winners since the awards began and, let’s face it, after 2020 we need as much positivity about the sector and its future stars that we can get. We are excited to see who applies this year and are asking businesses to encourage their rising stars to apply.”
Championing young talent
A Rising Star is someone with great potential and knows exactly what they need to advance in their chosen field. Winners receive funding of up to £1500 towards the training or equipment they have chosen to help them on their journey.
To meet the criteria, applicants need to be aged 18 to 30, a UK resident, currently working in the sector, and be clear on how the award will advance their career.
We are encouraging applicants to talk to their manager, mentor or HR department about their proposed training to be sure it is right for them and their career. Rising Stars can apply for training in anything that will help them in their careers. However, the charity is especially interested in those seeking to improve their ‘soft skills’ such as presentation, leadership, management, and persuasion skills as these are often overlooked but no less vital to excel within the industry.
