These stars have all chosen to progress their chosen specialism, whether this is English language editing or marketing, to bring specialist knowledge and expertise to our sector. Our funding will allow them to gain certificated training from their relevant professional association, and to benefit from the networking and community this will offer them, which will support their professional development and progression.
Grace Balfour-Harle
Grace reads pretty much everything she comes across and has developed a love of writing and creating content for magazines. She knew her passion lay in journalism and even attempted to start her own high school newspaper. Having completed a Publishing Master’s at Edinburgh Napier University, she is currently the Editorial Assistant at DC Thomson’s Beano comic. She is committed and enthusiastic about developing her skills to adapt to the changing social and publishing landscape.
Hetty Mosforth
The thrill of a newly printed book in her hands never diminishes for Hetty, who enjoys the collaborative nature of publishing and working with academics all around the world in her role as a junior desk editor at Edward Elgar, an academic publisher focusing on social sciences, law, and economics. She loves working with language and learning new things so now plans to study proofreading and copy editing to develop her skills in the sector.

Since finishing her BA in Modern Languages at Oxford University in 2016, Laura has worked in publishing and is currently a part-time editorial assistant at Fairlight Books, a small independent publisher of literary fiction. She has recently been awarded her MA in Literary Translation Studies with Distinction and is now building up her freelance career alongside her part-time, in-house role with the aim of establishing a portfolio career as an editorial professional and translator.

Cleo Asabre-Holt
An editorial assistant at mental health and wellbeing publisher, Trigger, Cleo has loved writing since scribbling her first stories and poems as a five-year-old. A finalist in the search for Nottingham’s Young Poet Laureate, she won a full scholarship to fund her creative writing MA, graduating with distinction. She believes in writing’s therapeutic value and has found her purpose working in publishing, giving people a voice so that their stories can be heard.
Eilidh Reid
Eilidh is a marketing administrator in the Education Division at Oxford University Press where she works across Primary, Secondary and Children’s Trade Marketing. She feels publishing is the perfect sector for her as it demands equal parts creativity and practicality. Children’s publishing is a very natural path for her to take as she wants to help make education accessible to all. She plans on developing her marketing skills to progress in the sector.

As The Bookseller’s Marketing and Sales Executive she has discovered a real interest in marketing and aims to pursue this within the publishing industry. She enjoys the dynamic nature of the weekly magazine and enjoys the contrast of being at the forefront of an industry with a long and varied history.
