How to apply for a Rising Star Award
Think you could be a Rising Star? Great!
Step 1: Is this the right time for you to apply?
A Rising Star Award is a one-time opportunity, so make sure you’re ready to go for it! Take some time to think about what you need to support your career goals and if this is the perfect moment to apply.
Step 2: Chat about your plans
Talk to your line manager, mentor, or someone senior you trust about your career goals. Ask for their advice on what training or courses could really help you grow and achieve your ambitions.
Don’t have someone you can ask? No problem – we’re here for you! Drop us an email at awards@theprintingcharity.org.uk and we’ll help you figure it out.
Quick note: Our grants can’t replace your employer’s training costs.
Step 3: Do your homework
Make sure you know all the details about the training or course you’re applying for. Look into:
- The learning outcomes (how it will help your career/personal development)
- Course details, costs (including VAT) and the running dates
If you’re asking for equipment, check prices on Argos first, as it’s our preferred supplier.
Step 4: Put together your strongest possible application
Your application is your chance to shine and make a great first impression, so take your time with it! Make sure you clearly explain:
- Your career goals
- How the training or course will help you get there
We’ll also need a headshot photo at time of application. If you’re selected as a Rising Star, we’ll use it on our website, social media, and marketing materials. Your photo should:
- Show your head and shoulders
- Have a white background
- Not be a selfie
- Be high-resolution (at least 1MB)
- And most importantly… don’t forget to smile! 😊
If you need additional support with your application, please contact awards@theprintingcharity.org.uk.
