Rising Stars

Abbie is responsible for the creation and delivery of central marketing assets such as social media posts and blogs as well as providing digital support to other resources within the Franchise Support Centre and across the network for the website, Google search and SEO. She also works on email marketing.

She plans to spend her award on The Chartered Institute of Marketing: Search Engine Marketing Planning Principles SEO Strategy. This will cover search engine ranking, keyword strategy and improving online visibility among other areas. These skills will be vital in her current role, where she is running more than 60 Google Ad profiles and related campaigns.

She will also take The Chartered Institute of Marketing’s course in Copywriting: The Complete Guide to Headline writing, which will help her deliver more effective email campaigns, social media and personal branding, plus print-based marketing such as product brochures, one pagers and much more.

Bethany joined inkjet technology company Xaar in June 2023 as a CI lead and has also taken over the role of ESG lead.

This is her first role in ESG and while she has been helped by a strong personal and professional interest and passion for sustainability, she’s looking to invest her Rising Star Award in two courses that will enhance her knowledge and skills in both areas of her role.

The first course will be the ISO 14001 Internal Auditor Training Course, which will help improve her internal auditing skills and understand more about how ISO 14001 can be used for environmental regulations and management systems. The second is the IEMA Foundation Certificate in Environmental Management Course. This latter course will give her access to plentiful resources on environmental management, sustainability, a wider network of support and updates on regulation changes.

Callum is responsible for ensuring that all of the content that goes across social media, the company blog and marketing emails accurately represents the instantprint brand, as well as championing the print industry.

He’s currently taking a part-time BA (Honours) in Business Management (Marketing) with The Open University and wants to continue his learning journey by developing his knowledge of digital marketing and content planning.

He’s selected the CIM (Chartered Institute of Marketing) course for his Rising Star Award, allowing him to demonstrate how print can have a positive impact on businesses across the globe while inspiring other young people to join the industry.

Elle has been working in the publishing industry for eight years, and has already been a winner or runner up in a number of publishing industry awards. She joined Hearst in March this year. Her current role involves magazines, an area that is new to her.

She is keen to continue learning new things and see how different areas of the printing world can influence others. She will invest her Rising Star Award in the Birkbeck Mini MBA, which blends academic knowledge and practical insights with a broader understanding of the business world.

The course is intensive and practice-based, designed to equip her with essential business skills that might take years to develop otherwise and which will be of great benefit to both her, and her team.

Georgia is responsible for managing point of sale (POS) projects for Kellogg’s brands as well as Pringles across Europe and also looks at the sustainability and innovation potential within these accounts.

She joined the industry having worked within the marketing and PR sector and would like to spend her Rising Star Award on three separate courses to enhance her career.

These are the POPAI Sustainability Foundation Course, Managing Projects and People and Visual Merchandising. Together they will enable her to deliver greater advice on sustainability as well as improving her skillset within project management.

James is a self-taught graphic designer and is extremely passionate about inspiring businesses up and down the country to unlock the power of print for their commercial success.

He is also responsible for creating numerous print campaigns for the instantprint brand, which are sent out as direct mail to customers, ranging from informational booklets about instantprint to fun Christmas cards to celebrate the holiday season.

He plans to spend his Rising Star Award on a British Academy of Graphic Design diploma, and an IDM Digital Marketing Masterclass.

These courses will add formal knowledge to his self-taught skills and give him a strong foundation to contribute ideas in project meetings with the backing of proper marketing theory and skills.

Lexi is a Senior Marketing Manager at HarperNonFiction and has worked with household names such as Rebel Wilson and Phil Tufnell. Most recently she was lead marketer for JoyFull, leading a team of four UK marketers as well as co-ordinating activity in India, Australia and New Zealand, helping it launch at #2 in the charts and become a Sunday Times Bestseller.

She plans to spend her award on the IDM Postgraduate Marketing Diploma to help her realise her aspirations of becoming a team manager in the near future. Designed to help senior marketers take the next steps in owning campaigns, running marketing departments and developing teams, she believes the units on strategy and financial analysis will be particularly helpful.

Michaela works at Bounce, representing more than 40 children’s publishers across the UK and Ireland, many of them independent. She creates cross-publisher promotions alongside working with individual publishers to develop their trade marketing plans.

She would like to study a course that will help her make a greater contribution to the strategic decisions of these companies. Her Rising Star Award will be invested in a Chartered Institute of Marketing Level 4 Qualification. This face-to-face course will give her an expanded knowledge of marketing theory.

She will also use this knowledge in her role as UK Co-Chair at the Society of Young Publishers to increase membership among publishing hopefuls and early-career professionals.

Taylor has recently been promoted to Maintenance and Engineering Manager, having joined CPI as an engineering maintenance apprentice in 2017, when he was 16 years old. He’s now responsible for managing plant maintenance and breakdown processes.

He wants to move from being a technical expert to become a manager, improving his communication skills as well as becoming both an educator and mentor. He plans to take The Institute of Mechanical Engineers’ course for New Engineering Managers to give him the skills he needs to achieve this goal.
