“When you have nothing, and no way to move forward, the people at the Printing Charity are there to help.” Zach’s story

Zach contacted the Printing Charity when circumstances led to him needing to start again from scratch for both home and personal items.

Help to get back on his feet

Zach was determined to start the process of getting properly back on his feet, and made contact with different organisations for help and support. Within six weeks, he had found somewhere to live, but needed to equip his new house with essential items, which was unaffordable.

As he continued to investigate the support for which he was eligible, he was signposted to the Printing Charity by another third-sector organisation, as a result of his employment history.

“Help from the Printing Charity pushed me in a very supportive way,” Zach explains. “I was equipping my property with items being given away for free, but it wasn’t possible to do this for a fridge freezer or a wardrobe, both of which the Printing Charity provided me with.”

Owning a fridge freezer has, in turn, enabled him to eat cost-effectively and healthily. “I can now cook in bulk and freeze portions for the rest of the week,” he explains. “It’s a cheaper way of living which I could make a reality through you.”

Finding a better financial footing

Alongside these essential items, the Printing Charity was also able to provide financial support for ongoing living costs, which Zach has used to put himself on a better financial footing. “My income disappeared overnight. Thanks to this money, I’ve been able to address debt that happened as a result.”

In addition, the financial support enabled Zach to run a car, which, in turn, meant he could travel to pick up the best value essential items to continue to furnish his home. “The money has helped me to get out and collect the things I needed,” he says.

Support with kindness

For Zach, it’s important for people who are going through difficult times, whatever those times may be, to get in touch with organisations like the Printing Charity.

He summarises: “When you’re in a position like I was, you can’t believe that what’s happening really is happening, and it’s hard to believe that help is out there for you.

“I had to get through my own stubbornness to get in touch, and I was very anxious about contacting the Printing Charity. But when I did, I found that your help was about more than just financial support. It was about the kindness with which I’ve been treated by people at the charity – the support I’ve had has been offered by people who are so willing to give it.

“When you have nothing, and no way to move forward, the people at the Printing Charity are there to help, and this support, in turn, means more ways to get through the next hurdles that may be ahead of you.”
