Jon joined the charity as a Trustee and Honorary Treasurer in 2004, becoming
Chairman of our Investment Committee in 2007. A qualified accountant with
the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, he joined the Financial
Times in 1974 and worked his way up to Acting Finance Director. Since 2003,
he has been the Finance Director of Pearson Global Real Estate.
As well as having just completed one year as our Chairman, he is celebrating
40 years at Pearson Plc. He started with the company at The Financial Times
and had direct responsibility for preparing the accounts for St Clements
Press, the FT’s printing arm. This included the period when the FT was
printed using hot metal at Bracken House, as well as the printworks at East
India Dock in London. He is now based in Pearson’s London Headquarters.
Stephen Gilbert, our Chief Executive, says: “Jon was a very effective
Treasurer and now Chairman. He’s very keen to develop initiatives that
particularly help younger people and I look forward to working with him and
our Trustees to achieve our target of helping 2,000 people by 2017.”
