Rising Stars

Jack joined Bluetree Group as part of the graduate training scheme, working across the business over a year and a half before joining the sustainability team. He’s long been passionate about the environment and will invest his award in an Environmental Management course with the IEMA. The additional knowledge will help him contribute to the printing industry’s sustainability innovations for years to come.

Luke is the Graduate PPC Manager at instantprint, joining the company after completing a Master’s degree in Project Analysis, Finance, and Investment. Through his Award, he’ll be studying for two different Institute of Data and Marketing courses, looking at Behavioural Economics and Data-Driven Marketing Planning. The courses will enhance the expertise he can offer instantprint and he plans to share the knowledge he gains from them across the organisation.

Sophie joined Paragon at the end of last year, her first print industry job having previously worked in in-house marketing roles. She’ll be investing her award in the Chartered Institute of Marketing’s Strategic Marketing Masterclass. She wants to become an integral part of the Paragon team, able to mentor new entrants to the industry and demonstrate how print can be a core part of all communications of the future.

Tia works for The London Institute of Banking & Finance as a Learning Content Editor, having worked for Westermann Gruppe, an educational publishing company in Germany, while a student. She will spend her Rising Star Award on a course on Editorial Project Management run by the CIEP as well as membership of BookMachine Campus and attendance at the SYP Autumn conference. She is motivated to ensure her future career has a positive impact on the industry, and hopes to become a managing editor at an educational publishing company or e-learning provider in the next five years, having gained more experience in different areas of publishing.

Marta currently works on a mix of fiction, non-fiction and poetry, having previously worked in media and communications before joining the industry as part of Penguin’s editorial team. She’s going to use her award across a range of providers to enhance her fiction rewriting, editing and general copyediting skills as well as studying people management. The future career she envisages is as a Managing Editor, Editorial Manager or a trusted freelancer.

Kevin works on the Film Studies, Scottish Studies and Law titles at Edinburgh University Press having joined the company in 2021. His award will be spent on training in marketing and brand strategy, ‘books in a data-driven world’ and ‘writing for online audiences’ through the CIM, ALPSP and PTC respectively. It will also cover a year’s Bookmachine Campus membership. He intends to continue enhancing his skills so that he five years’ time he will be mentoring those starting in the industry.

Ally works at instantprint, having started her career in Bluetree’s trade print division Route 1 Print. She will spend her award on the CIPR’s Professional PR Certificate to enhance her skills in this field. She is ambitious to expand her role along with the team and the business’s requirements and in five years she hopes to be the leader and manager of a small team of content writers and PR specialists.
