There’s nothing to lose, start the conversation

Mid Conversation campaign

Finding solutions to any challenge often starts with a conversation. At the Printing Charity, we believe that no problem is too big or too small and are here to talk to anyone struggling with practical, emotional or financial issues.

The first step is the hardest to take

There’s a well-known saying that “A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step”. The most difficult action is taking that initial step and getting in touch with us for the first time. People have told us that they feel anxious and ashamed about making that call, and they’ve also told us that sometimes others have had to step in to encourage them to do so. However, they also tell us about the relief they feel when they have made that first connection with our team.

Beneficiaries like Linda sum it up perfectly: “Help is out there, but if you don’t ask, you won’t know.”

Mark adds: “Men especially don’t like talking. But when you speak to the charity, it’s fine, they put you at ease. Don’t be scared, just ring. The Printing Charity took the pressure away.”

We’re here for you – whoever you are

Life can take unexpected turns. It’s important to us that everyone with a print industry or allied trades connection knows that they are welcome to contact us to talk things through – whatever their personal or professional situation.

Paul was in that situation. “I said to my colleague that I didn’t think I’d be the sort of person the charity would be able to help. He said to me, ‘If you phone up and explain your situation, what’s the worst that can happen? It’s worth asking the question.’ I would like anyone struggling with something to speak to the Printing Charity in order to find out how they might be able to help.”

Linda’s discovery that she was eligible for our support in her own right after her father passed away not only provided her with vital financial help, it also helped her feel that the time she spent caring for him was acknowledged and valued. “I felt that, as a carer for family members over the years my work was valued. I knew that my dad would have been proud, so I was proud, too.”

One conversation opens up a range of options for help

That first conversation can open doors to a range of support and signposting to other specialist organisations.

Gino is clear about the potential scope of support the Printing Charity can provide. “There will be some way in which they can help you,” he urges.

This was certainly the case for Mark. The Printing Charity helped with moving costs to ensure that he and his wife could secure the right type of accommodation for their multiple health needs. “It felt like nothing was too much for the people at the charity to sort out,” he says.

So, whatever issue you are struggling with, and whatever your situation – whether in work, unemployed or retired from any of the sectors we support – please remember, our support starts with a conversation. Please get in touch, and let’s talk: support@theprintingcharity.org.uk
